Verizon to kill unlimited data plans, Sprint: iPhone deal to pay off by 2015

A couple of iPhone related bits of news emerged today, first, Verizon plans on killing its unlimited data plan that its customers have been grandfathered in to. How? Well if you want to upgrade to that new 4G LTE device, they’ll be forcing you to “upgrade” your data plan. Verizon CEO Fran Shammo doesn’t want you to worry though because the shared data plans coming this summer are going to compensate for that (as long as you’re in a small business/family plan).

Unfortunately for most, the next iPhone will likely have LTE support built in, forcing all current unlimited data iPhone users to lose their plan.

Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has come out and stated that they are very happy with the iPhone deal they’ve made with Apple despite the fact that they won’t be making any profit from it until 2015. He believes that the iPhone brings lower subscriber turnover rate as well as bringing in high value subscribers and that it will ultimately prove to be a winning situation for Sprint.
