Beatport Pro

Independent electronic music retailer Beatport has launched a new desktop application called Beatport Pro. It is currently in beta but is running quite smoothly for us.

Beatport is the go-to store for electronic music enthusiasts and DJ’s seeing as they sell not only MP3′s but uncompressed WAV and AIFF versions as well.

It has a very nice iTunes feel to the layout with most of the essential menus on the left and the content in a larger column on the right. It utilizes tabs (like in your web browser) to keep things clean and organized. Basically, it a smooth desktop client that has all the features of their online site without having to open a web browser, which we love.

Here’s a few of our favorite features:

SUPER DOWNLOADER:
Tame your downloads using the advanced downloader which gives you infinite control over how your tracks are named and organized.

MULTIPLE CARTS:
Line up and mix up your potential purchases until you have your perfect set using Beatport Pro’s multiple carts.

PREVIEWING HISTORY:
Beatport Pro remembers which tracks you have previewed so you can quickly identify new music to checkout.

Beatport Pro requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher and is only about 11MB in size. We tested it on a MacBook Pro running 10.7.2.
