T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray is stating that the next iPhone will be capable with their 3G AWS network.

“The next chipset will support AWS,” he said in an interview with CNET. “The challenge that existed in the past will go away.”

Ray said Apple has the option to move to AWS with the roadmap of chipsets on the market. The executive has seen the chipsets that are available to all of the original equipment manufacturers.

Ray does admit that he hasn’t seen Apple’s roadmap and may go out of its way to ensure that compatibility will not be possible. Also, this doesn’t mean T-Mobile will be selling it for the subsidized pricing but that one may purchase the iPhone unlocked and use a T-Mobile SIM card in it.

The next generation iPhone is believed to have LTE built-in so even with T-Mobile capability, its data usage will be very slow seeing that it is the only major carrier without an LTE plan being executed.

Good for TMobile. They deserved the iphone foe decent data speeds and investnent in HSPA+42 as opposed to ATT who.chooses to remain dead last in qualiy for its subscribers. Apple should be partnering with better quality carriers than the the worst ones for their customers. Tim Cook has picked the “supply chain” experience over the “consumer experience”
