Belkin, Elgato Thunderbolt peripherals revealed at CES

Belkin and Elgato have unveiled some new Thunderbolt capable peripherals at CES.

Elgato has announced an SSD Thunderbolt external drive. Here are the highlights:

  • 270MB/s transfer speeds
  • Thunderbolt port powered, no external power source required
  • Does not come with Thunderbolt cable

The Elgato Thunderbolt SSD drive will come in 120GB and 240GB sizes for €399.95 (around $508) and €649.95 (around $825) in February.

Belkin has unveiled their Thunderbolt Express dock. Specifics:

  • Includes three USB 2.0 ports, one Firewire 800 port, one HDMI port, one 3.5mm Audio port, one gigabit Ethernet port and two Thunderbolt ports (one upstream and one downstream) for daisy-chaining to another Thunderbolt compatible device.
  • Utilizes Thunderbolt Technology for data transfer rates of up to 10Gbps bi-directionally

The Belkin Thunderbolt Express dock is coming this September for $299. Here’s what it looks like:

Quite pricey for now but with Thunderbolt coming to Windows computers this year, the demand and competition amongst vendors will hopefully drive down prices.

    Belkin, what are you thinking? I have FW800, HDMI(DVI),gigabit USB 2!!!!!!! Give me esata and USB 3 for crying out loud.
