The latest Dropbox beta has capabilities of automatically uploading photos and videos from a digital camera when plugging it into ones computer. After the upload completes, you then have access to the content via computers synced with your Dropbox account, through their mobile apps or through the web browser.

Apple recently launched Photo Stream as a feature of iCloud and it automatically uploads your photos taken from an iOS 5 device to any other iOS device or Mac associated with that same account.

Apple makes it easier by simply doing it automatically without the cable but with Dropbox being available on just about every platform including the web browser, many may choose that as a safer, simpler solution for sharing and storage.
