A report came out last week detailing how Siri may end up hurting Google’s main source of revenue: search.
Traditionally, when one inquired about anything most would suggest to just Google it, but with Siri bypassing that process altogether and delivering the answer instantaneously, it has the potential to severely cut into Google’s revenue.
For example:
When I asked Siri to find the best Indian restaurant nearby, it came up with the right answer. It did not answer with the nearest restaurant but found the highest rated restaurant nearby. Before Siri, I would have gone to Google GOOG +2.04% and searched for an Indian restaurant. Google would have made money if I clicked on any one of a number of advertisements for restaurants on the search page. Siri completely bypassed Google and went to a data base called Yelp.
Siri may be coming not only the iPhone 4 but also Mac OS X Lion soon.
Has Siri changed the way you search?
