According to AppleInsider, Apple has issued blackout dates for October 9 to the 12th and October 14 and 15.
October 9 to the 12th points to a potential release of iOS 5 on October 9 and AppleCare is being told to prepare for an influx of calls for that day.
October 14th and 15th (a Friday and Saturday) will likely be the release date for the iPhone 5.
We recently stated how Apple is planning to announce the iPhone 5 on October 4 so that would give a 10 day window for Apple to prepare and possibly allow pre-orders.
