Apple patent magsafe ipad iphone ios

That 30-pin connector at the bottom of your iOS device may soon be replaced because Apple has just won the patent for integrating the MagSafe connector that you use on your MacBooks, onto an iOS device such as an iPad and iPhone.

The timing seems more appropriate now than ever with the iOS 5 release ios-5/”>around the corner. With iOS 5′s iCloud integration and ability to sync over WiFi, a MagSafe connector to charge would be the only thing one would really need as long as they had an internet source and wireless network.

Of course, it’d be nice to see an integrated Thunderbolt port but at the moment it’d only benefit Mac users.
