Steve Jobs to unveil Mac OS X Lion, iCloud and iOS 5 at WWDC 2011

Apple has announced that CEO Steve Jobs will be presenting a new generation of Apple software at this years WWDC 2011.

The release states:

Apple® CEO Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address on Monday, June 6 at 10:00 a.m. At the keynote, Apple will unveil its next generation software – Lion, the eighth major release of Mac OS® X; iOS 5, the next version of Apple’s advanced mobile operating system which powers the iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch®; and iCloud®, Apple’s upcoming cloud services offering.

This is the first mention of iCloud that Apple has made publicly.

Many rumors have been circulating on just what the iCloud is. The most obvious is the music streaming service as well as the previous services from Apple’s MobileMe. It may also attempt to take on social networking sites like Facebook by allowing photo and video uploading and commenting.

WWDC 2011 is right around the corner so expect full details soon.
